Mykola Tomenko: Kyiv Authorities are doomed to Early Election
Yesterday the Committee on State Building and Local Self-Government in the course of the sitting scrutinized two Resolution Drafts regarding the pre-termed elections of the Deputies to the Kyiv State Council and Mayor of Kyiv city (Reg. No5520, registered by V. Lytvyn and Reg. No5520-1, registered by M. Tomenko, A. Kozhemiakin and K. Kulykov). The Committee recommended that the Verkhovna Rada adoption as a basis and in its entirety the Resolution Draft introduced by M. Tomenko, A. Kozhemiakin and K. Kulykov.
Giving comments regarding the decision, co-author of the Bill, M. Tomenko emphasized that the present Kyiv power is doomed to the early elections as at the present time, according to the sociological studies, nonconfidence to the capital dignitaries comprises approximately 90 per cent. "One may give numerous examples of illegal activity of Kyiv high-ranking authorities but almost all the Kyiv residents are convinced that it is high time that that the power had to be changed and it is the most sound reason for the Verkhovna Rada to adopt the decision on the pre-termed elections", - the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada is convinced.
The Resolution Draft schedules the pre-termed elections in Kyiv city on 30 May 2010.
